5. Make One Leader
Ephesians 4:4-13
Church
Introduction:
Make no mistake; if we make disciples we will grow the church. The church will not grow if we don’t do what Jesus says to do. If we really want to impact the Kingdom of God we must get outside of the traditional church structure and make disciples. With the immediate objective of starting a “Cell Church” we will need leaders that understand the destination. Those that have been won to Christ through the National Bible Reading Campaign will now be challenged way beyond their counterparts in the traditional churches. One thing about this plan is that all start on the same page. The fruit of the Spirit is the evidence of your leadership. Have you been prayer walking? Have you been witnessing to others? Have you led any Bible studies? How many people have you personally led through the first twenty lessons? You are not a leader if you won’t do what you expect others to do. You are not a leader if no body if following you. You are not a leader if you spend all your time in church and away from the harvest. Many desire to be leaders but this is not anything short of ambition. The number that will go out into the harvest are very few. Jesus words are probably more true today then when he spoke them over 2000 years ago. “The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord of the Harvest, ask Him to send out more workers for his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38
We use Ephesians 4:4-13 as are foundational verse for this step. The materials that help us stay on coarse are the books 2nd Reformation, Life in the Body and we accelerate Biblical learning with the Kingdom Doctrinal Track. This step is the most critical …..period. Fail to develop leaders we don’t grow. It is like allowing all the apples to ripen and fall to the ground in an orchard that is well kept! Please take this step and focus on building into some else’s life. Take them through the steps and make them a disciple of Christ.
Ephesians 4:4-13
Ephesians 4:4 We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future.
- We all are apart of one body. T/F
- We all have the same Spirit. T/F
- Heaven has different levels for those that are more spiritual then others. T/F
Ephesians 4:5 There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
- There is only one Lord. T/F
- All roads lead to heaven. T/F
- There are two baptisms one of water and one of the Spirit. T/F (Luke 3:16)
- Christianity is very complicated and difficult to understand. T/F
Ephesians 4:6 and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all.
- There are three Gods. T/F
- God is over us all. T/F
- We have no way of knowing how many Gods there are the Bible doesn’t tell us. T/F
- We serve a Living God. T/F
Ephesians 4:7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift according to the generosity of Christ.
- We have all had to earn our special gift and work very hard to keep it. T/F
- Christ is very generous. T/F
- Each one of us have a special gift. T/F
Ephesians 4:8 That is why the Scriptures say, “When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.” Notice that it says “he ascended.” This means that Christ first came down to the lowly world in which we live. The same one who came down is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that his rule might fill the entire universe.
- Jesus didn’t leave us anything to work with while here on earth. T/F
- Jesus is now in heaven and has given us gifts to use while He is gone. T/F
Ephesians 4: 11 He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
- What are the different gifts that God has given to the His church?
- Which one of the following are responsible for laying the foundation of the church?
- Which one is responsible for warning the church about the future?
- Which one is responsible to help win others to Christ?
- Who are ones responsible to rule over the church and take money for all religious services performed even if they don’t know the people personally?
- Who is called to be the servant leader of the church?
Ephesians 4:12-13 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.
- What is the responsibility of these leaders?
- Do the men with these gifts need to work together or all just follow one man?
- Is their work to complain about all the believers that don’t do anything and discipline them?
- Is their work to equip God’s people so they can do the work of the ministry?
- What is God’s goal for His church?
- We should be united in faith and knowledge of God’s Son. T/F
- If the people in the church are not active in ministry there is something is very wrong with the leadership of the church. T/F
- The traditional church is known for the number of leaders that it produces and go on to start new churches. T/F
- We are to work at maturity and also strive for the full stature of Christ. T/F
Leaders
1 Timothy 3:1-7 It is a true saying that if someone wants to be an elder, he desires an honorable responsibility. For an elder must be a man whose life cannot be spoken against. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exhibit self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home and must be able to teach. He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, peace loving, and not one who loves money. He must manage his own family well, with children who respect and obey him. For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church? An elder must not be a new Christian, because he might be proud of being chosen so soon, and the Devil will use that pride to make him fall. Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will not fall into the Devil’s trap and be disgraced. In the same way, deacons must be people who are respected and have integrity. They must not be heavy drinkers and must not be greedy for money.
- It is a good thing for someone to want to be an elder T/F
- The persons life and moral character must be closely examined T/F
- He must have a good reputation with others. T/F
- He must not love money. T/F
- He must be able to manage his own house hold. T/F
- It is best to pick a baby Christian to be an elder. T/F
- How can someone fall into the Devil’s trap?
- Why is it that Christian leaders seem to be more interested in money then people’s souls?
2nd Reformation
This book does a wonderful job explaining what has happened to the Traditional church. It now only operates with half its power. It seems that the only part of the church that really works today is the large group meeting witch has far more power and authority then the small group part of the church where the transformation of lives happen. This book really uses theology to teach these new leaders to put more emphasis on putting all the functions of the church in there house where God manifests Himself in the Immanence of Christ. It also explains the importance of the large group Celebration that demonstrates the Transcendent nature of God. It is best to just go through this with your leaders in a very relaxed and open way, discussing everything that someone might be thinking. This is very important for all to understand what needs to happen in order to form a New Testament Church. Part Three of this book concentrates on the practical and really is our go to guide for the development of the Cell Church we want in this city.
Life in His Body
This book will help us learn how to work in the small group context. It is very practical and Simple. It introduces the new leader to the concepts needed to have a Cell Church and begins to explain the basic nature of Christian Community. The next section will begin to build on the Spiritual Foundations needed for a strong church. Finally it will teach these new leaders how to reach out through what is called an “Oikos” and how we can reach others through cells. With some additional helps on administration and prayer walking this book is a great one to start your leaders with.
Kingdom Doctrinal Track (KDT)
These fourteen pictures are also called “High Tech Icons” and can be used in many different ways. They can be used to help teach the truths in step 4 which is “Form One Group”. They can be used on the kitchen table or park bench to help ground your new converts. They are wonderful for studying the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. If you really want your new leaders to learn then have them color code the Bible to match the slides. The Doctrines taught here are extremely strong Biblical truths that the leader will take with Him or her the rest of their lives. They use Adam, Abraham, Moses and Jesus to teach everything needed for Salvation issues. They also cover many of the teachings from the Old Testament prophets showing these leaders that the Wrath of God is nothing to take lightly. After completing this KDT these leaders will be able to teach, debate and defend difficult Biblical truths.
We are hoping to use these in villages to present the Bible in its fullness to those who really have very little understanding of God’s plan of redemption. In the future we will go into a village and preach the Gospel from each of the fourteen panels hoping to start churches this way.
Use for tracking your new leaders progress in step 5 colored in light blue.
Summary
You now have completed step five of the Galati Plan, “Make One Leader.” This is also very critical and actually helps us make disciples out of our coverts leaving a church behind that is Biblically grounded on the foundational truths of Scripture. It is important to stay connected with your leaders and keep them connected to there leaders. This is why we study the 2nd Reformation with great attention to detail. We are hoping to begin a proto-type group that will ultimately be the model for many other groups. When you leader has come this far you are to be congratulated and hopefully you will be encouraged to start all over again from the beginning with your new leader. May God bless your efforts!
