Construction Projects or Go Forth and Multiply?

We are very glad to see 2010 through the eyes of faith. While reading the Bible on Januaray 1st, I noticed something that really jumped out at me.  We know that God told Noah to go forth and mulitply.  You must  have many children and repopulate the earth (Gen 9:1-7).  SO the command to go is what Noah was to do.  Notice it did not say…stay!  God also told them to multiply not to divide.  This was what God wanted.  He wanted the earth to be full of people made in His image.  Well, then I noticed that in Genesis 11 , only two chapters later, we hit a major problem.  We see that they wanted to stay together.  They wanted to be in one large group.  They were thinking, “Hey let’s build a momument to our greatness.”  Does this sound like some or our problems today.  Are we about building our legacy or the Lords Kingdom?  Anyway…it is very interesting that they started a “construction” project in order to stay together.  They  said, Hey this will keep up from scattering all over the world (Gen. 11:1-4).  For those of you who dearly love language study you can be very thankful for this act of rebellion, now you get to study foreign languages!  Anyway the point is we want to stay, we want to start a constuction project.  Then we can all stay here.  Can you see a problem here?  God says go….we say stay and build.  Jesus” says you must go forth and “make disciples” and we say “one hour” on Sunday morning is all that is needed to get into heaven.   I find it sort of interesting that this part of human nature is still around us today 6000 years later.  The desire to rebel against God.  The desire to leave a legacy behind and the desire to allow “others” the responsiblity to share their faith and make disciples.  Could it be that God still wants us to get out of the buildings and go forth.  I think so…  time is short…if God is calling you to missions then please find time to listen this year.  Time may be shorter then we think.  People need to hear the message of Gods great love…and how they can be reconciled to Him through His precious Son Jesus Christ, who is also God (Romans 9:5)(Hebrews (1:8).
